From September 20, 2014 through to January 18, 2015 you can visit the exhbition titled, simply, “Mark Rothko” at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag in the Netherlands. Latvian-born artist Rothko has a huge fanbase within Europe as well as his adopted home in the United States, and this is certain to be an exhibition which raises the profile of this Dutch Art Gallery.
For those new to the work of Rothko, the exhibition goes beyond just his signature style, with abstract work joined by some earlier paintings from his career. These included portraits and other examples of his diverse skills and creativity.
The Gemeentemuseum also holds key modern art from other notable painters from the 20th century, making this destination an essential visit for those in the locality of Den Haag, or even further afield. Piet Mondrian, is another notable artist represented here, and is part of the permanent collection.
